"Grider"

Phase 1 - “3-RM Snatch & Burpees”
Competitors will have 10 minutes to find their 3-RM Snatch (either power or full is fine). All 3 consecutive lifts must be completed in 40 seconds or less.
- The first 3 minutes of Phase 1 can be used only to load the barbell and warm-up.
- The remaining 7 minutes of Phase 1 can be used to score as many points as possible.
- Points will be given for amount (in lbs.) of 3-RM Snatch achieved, and one point will be given for every Burpee performed during the 7 minutes.

Example
– Athlete A successfully achieves a 3-RM Snatch of 175 lbs. and utilizes the remaining time to complete a total of 35 Burpees. Athlete A will earn a total score of 210 points (175 +35) for Phase 1 of the Challenge.

*** Competitors will rest exactly 3 minutes before beginning Phase 2 of the Challenge.

Phase 2 - “Ten Minute Capacity Test”
Perform the following movements, in order, for max reps (or calories), resting exactly 60 seconds between each station:
- 4 Minute Row (for Calories)
- 3 Minutes of Pull-Ups
- 2 Minutes of Bodyweight Back Squat (3/4 BWT for females)
- 1 Minute of 135/95 lb. Push Press or Jerk

Example – Athlete A rows 86 calories, performs 82 pull-ups, 41 back squats, and 19 overhead presses. Athlete A will earn a total score of 228 points (86+82+41+19) for Phase 2 of the Challenge.

The athletes’ scores from Phases 1 and 2 will be added together to create their final challenge score. The athlete with the highest total score will be the winner.

Example – Athlete A scored 210 points in Phase 1 and 228 points in Phase 2. Athlete A’s final score for the Challenge is 438 points (210 + 228).

  1. Looks like fun, good luck to all the Dawgs; old and new. I had hoped to be a part of this Challenge but as luck and life may have it, I'll have to pass due to work and injury. Hopefully I can get over the hump in the next little while and be able to do things as rx'd again.

    Full effort, full victory!

    Phase 1: 203 points (147 + 56)

    Phase 2: 182 points (94+50+23+15)

Phase 1: Not happy with snatch but know I needs a lot more warmup. Did burgener warmup with empty bar before I started and then did 40,50,60kg with the 3 min warmup. But it just didn't happen, so stopped at 7 min and started hammering burpees out.

Phase 2 : that rower leaves you dead for all the other events, had no pulling power. Legs were shit for the 80kg squat and push jerk were horrible... so all out a great feeling afterward and

    GOOD LUCK

Expected more pullups and squats...hard to say if holding back on the rower a bit would have yielded a higher score. Have fun with this one dawgs!

  5. Basic standard, CF-style, on pull-ups. Chin must break horizontal plane (doesn't need to break vertical plane) on pull-ups.

    Good luck everyone!

If so do we need to have a continuous video through the whole competition(showing the 3 min rest)?

3 minute warmup: 50, 60kg, failed on 70kg, just not warm. Opened with 70kg, got one, fail, fail. Waited 30 seconds then got 3 in 35 seconds.
After reading the above posts, went a little easy on the row, in retrospect, not a good idea. I can accumulate more points per minute on the row than on any of the other 3 movements.

A little beat up today, did a fight gone bad yesterday at work. Snatch was about what I expected, burpees were clearly not enough.

Row was a controlled pace (1:48), pull ups just did 5 at a time every 20 sec, back squats - I was dead by that time, push press felt strong, but tired from yesterday.

Got a little bit of a cold right now, and I'm off to Greece for 2 weeks, but I'm glad I got this in. Oly cycle has been awesome.

    Notes
Destroyed. I did not compete today. I got through this. Not happy with the outcome.

I've been on the Whole30 clean eating for the month of September and I feel that I'm too lean, performance has definitely begin to suffer. I think I'm probably about 6%BF 6'1 at 185lbs.

From what I've seen most "elite" crossfitters over 6 feet tall are usually over 200lbs as well. I'm not really sure if I should try and put on 15-20lbs or just stay where I'm at. Any suggestions?

  108. Me and bear went to Copenhagen, Denmark to participate in the biggest CrossFit competition so far in Europe. It was 120-ish Males competing.

1st event was a skill event where you had to do different skills at 7 stations. We both nailed them all.

2nd event was a AMRAP with 10 kettlebells snatches@32kg, 60m sandbag runs@30kg, 10 burpees, 60m sandbag runs. Both of us scored well here and combined score of 1+2 got us through to event 3 easily.

Scores was blanked before event 3 which was a pure strength event (unfortunately for me).

3rd event was 9 minutes for a crossfit total thingie with overhead squat, clean and bench press (max 3 lifts of each, but since you had to set everything up time was short). Here I got knocked out despite a new PR in the overhead squat with 95kgs. Sucks being a small/weak guy sometimes. Bear did however put in a fantastic effort to get himself through onto the next event.

Event 4 was a bear complex thing where weights increased every 45th second. Bear did awesome getting to the second to last bar (100kg), but it wasn't enought for a spot in the finals.

We both felt very prepared: strong, fast and mentally ready. Thank you OPT and Greg!

  110. I got to do this with the local Charlotte dawgs at CrossFit Vitality in Concord NC.

First let me say, Steve and Jessica Pinkerton have a gym that is second to none. Not only is it the nicest place in Charlotte but I would wager to say it is one of the nicest in the country. World class all the way. If you have the chance, get there to check it out.

Thanks Steve for hosting this competition. I truly appreciate it!

Once again, I realize that working out on my own in the garage is just not going to get me to the next level. I need to surround myself with people like Steve, Krazy, Jessica, David and Tristin.

Happy with these results, due to stress, along with other things (working out at a globogym), minor injuries, the last 7 weeks of training have not been great (3x/wk) but this was a boost of confidence. I'd like to tackle that again in a few months

  126. Finally got this done today. Heavy Evy was nice enough to spend his lunch break in my basement counting and doing the video. Waiting for official count, but think I just broke 400. I need to improve that, but considering I haven't trained in 10 days and am in ketosis, I'm happy to have even survived this wod. Totals to follow.
