A Roid

"no i've never used"

then...

"canseco is lying"

then...

"ok, ok, i did use them"

what a complete joke this is..i just find it funny honestly

bigger question it raises is this...how is this harming you? why does it matter to you?

what has he done that really hurts anything?

why not make professional sports....errr...entertainment....err....Hollywood...allow as much drugs as possible...after all, it is entertainment right?

dear i pick on our professional sport hockey and say its not...IT IS...if i pay $100 to sit down and watch hockey...it had better be called some form of entertainment...

back to the subject at hand...are folks really worried about athletes using drugs b/c its unsafe and harmful?...guess what, they're not...another topic

are folks really worried about athletes using drugs b/c they are not role models anymore?...guess what, they're not role models, role models are in your home and communities...another topic

are folks really worried about athletes using drugs b/c it taints sport?...guess what, its not sport anymore, its entertainment...

so why does it matter so much when cyclists, baseball players, hockey players...the list goes on and on do more to get better at what they do so they can make more money.....if its only entertainment?...why does it matter? you tell me...

I could care less about professional athletes who abuse their bodies. I care more about the average CrossFitter who feels compelled to talk 'Roids to improve his Fran time or to gain that edge at the Games.

Well why stop at the professionals? The Olympics are no better. The reason Canada sucks so bad (especially at the Summer Games) is we can't afford the docs to mask the drugs needed to excel at these sports.

What I find hilarious how quick people are to shun any athlete for any wrong-doing, like our friend Michael Phelps. The golden boy of last years Games is now some forgotten red-headed stepchild because there is a picture of him using a bong. It's just weed!! It's not like there's a pic of him abusing kittens while on a coke binge.

There are so many bleeding hearts out there that just lose their minds over something as trivial as a 23-year-old kid just doing what MILLIONS of present and former kids the same age have done. Kelloggs dumped him immediately and I'd say GOOD because it's probably healthier to hit the bong once and a while than it is eat the garbage they produce your whole life.

It's the nature of society, no thanks to the media (I'd put devil horns on the 'm' if I could), to make athletes in to heros and then villify the very next breath. At the root, we're all humans first; warts and all...

Who does it affect and why does it matter?

I think the general public are least affected by this. They are the spectator and want entertainment. The bigger, faster, stronger and more intense the action is, the better. In the end, the public will continue to choose the team or individual that provides the most excitement for them whether it's boxing or the putt-putt golf championship.

Those that are most affected are the athletes themselves because their career is based on being the best while abiding by certain moral and legal restrictions. What if they were to spring a surprise drug test at everyone qualified for the Crossfit games? Competitors would be outraged if anyone tested positive!

As coach mentioned a few days ago regarding the games format in 2009. All workouts will be truly unique giving no one an advantage and they will attempt to measure the effectiveness of each affiliates program based on their results to others. All that measurement and credibility does out the window if we find out affiliate members were juicing.

It's human nature for people to push the envelope and bend the rules. Place a wallet on the ground in the middle of the sidewalk on a busy street in downtown Manhattan. It will be gone within minutes! Now take another wallet, place it in the same location and draw a large circle around it. Odds are that the wallet will still be there at the end of the day because people will feel they are being watched.

If we are going to impose drug limitations on athletes, then random tests should be mandatory because honor is not a virtue that everyone lives by.

Should it be required for the games? Abso-freaking-lutely!

Trevor, have you changed that picture yet? After Geoffs comment, your image cracks me up every time I see it.

yes Brent the picture has changed. I'd like to think that I did that just to get a response.
If any of you get the chance to watch "bigger, stronger, faster" you should do so.

why does it matter?

My opinion regarding this is that it DOES matter, it matters to the thousands of kids out there that do not have positive role models at home or in their community. I work in an alternative education school, where we deal with the worst kids from 8 school districts, and they have NO role models at home. They look up to professional athletes, bigtime. These kids either do not have parents, are a ward of the state and live in group homes or have mental issues. Professional athletes are part of their daily conversations with each other and staff. Now these kids not only have no role models at home, they are watching their fav athlete pumping roids and smoking weed, bad combo for these kids.

Now my opinion from an adult standpoint, i dont give a shit...it is entertainment, there is no more team loyalty, a lot of sportsmanship is gone, and yes, people are paying to see home runs, big hits and so on..so i guess i am on both sides of the fence with this one...

Life is a learning process where we make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. I am just glad my life and the mistakes I have made and the mistakes I will make in the future are not under the same microscope. Easy to judge from a distance...I have no idea about the personal life of high profiled people, except what I learn from the media (good or bad). If fact I really have no idea about the personal/ professional pressures of people I see on a daily basis.

I need a spell check icon on this thing. OPT can you take care of that.

It doesn't matter. No one was complaining when he was MVP of the league. Imagine what the NFL would be without steroids, defiantly not as entertaining as it is now and if you think the NFL isn't loaded with players 'juicing' then you are truly naive. We are in a time where we demand too much from our athletes and it has caused a lack of purity in sports and that's never going to change. In the end, I'd rather play pond hockey with my buddies in it's purest form, rather then watch professionals play on tv. One of those situations is sport, and the other is sports entertainment.
