I've done this program before and it got me to regionals (THanks OPT) but I've taken off on a different program since then. I'm wanting to start this back and I was wondering..
Should I start this weekend with the testing or July 3rd which is when you started this cycle?

michael, i believe the usual answer is jump in. we had a heavy volume cycle and now ramping up the intensity. coach warned those who missed the volume to jump in but jump in scaled. not sure what you have been doing, but i would say you might want to scale the RX'ed wods until you are feeling it.

Couldn't kip so tried variations on strict pull-ups.

Kept the back squats light. We were a week behind and then Coach told us to get current, so we had already done heavy front squat this week.

Now I know what I haven't done for awhile - unbroken CTBs... Only first two UB, and ripped hands badly on fifth set...

Feels good to be back!

Hill Sprints/ Tabata Push-ups:

Modified at half way since my shins are a little sore & I have issues with shin splints:

4x30 sec hill sprints per above, then:
Tabata Push-up: 15/13/8/7/5/6/5/5 - this is funny even. Last cycle is still playing havoc with arms and chest.
4x 30 sec row sprint/3:00 rest - distances: 159m/152m/155m/152m

A little ugly clown was looking over my shoulder in sprint 7 and 8, but decided to bother some other poor slob today.

Today was a humbling day for me. I think I needed it though to refocus me. Especially since I will start coaching another football season in a couple of weeks. I am doing my athletes an injustice if they never to a place where they are humbled by facing head on into their weaknesses...that is how they will truly get stronger. Thanks OPT for pushing us this way!

Hey Everyone!

Just checking in and saying hi. I still follow this site daily, I learn a ton here.

I've decided to try to qualify for Pan Am Nationals in November and then back on Games/Regionals prep after that. Depending on the weight class I enter (over the past month I've gained about 6-8lbs), I'll need a total of about 265kg between the snatch and clean and jerk. I'm about 20kg off right now, but I figure I'll be able to achieve that by September. The Crossfit/USA weightlifting Open is on the agenda too.

Right now I'm focused on Olifting but am still doing metcons regularly. I've increased my food intake (4000cal+, mainly fat and protein - higher carb day once a week, and PW depending on the workout) and it has translated to much better recovery. My metcons/running/lifts are all great. And I feel recovered coming into my sessions.

Did a solid 300 C&J today and a tough 350 front squat single. Gotta represent the big dawgs right!

Anyway, miss you guys! Can't wait to come back!

Brother in law wanted to give a different wod a try today so I went for it. 20-225 lbs. back squats/40 toes to bar/60 2 pood KB swings for time. Everything hurts grip and legs went in a hurry. My time was terrible a 9:19. Stopped after that need a break bad

Nathan H... Sounds like we are going the same route with the oly lifting! Sweet!

After talking with james and Chad, I came to the realization that CF comps were not fun for me anymore. I was training and competing because that's what other people expected me to do with my skills rather than doing it for the love of it. I lost my passion and drive from training. It was hard for me to come to that realization because I was very emotionally attached to the feelings and love I once had for the sport when I first started. James simply told me to go back and start with what I love and there is nothing like the positive thoughts and passion I have for the clean & jerk and snatch.
I've finally decided to post things because I'm hoping that no one else has to go through the same path as I did. If you don't love it, don't do it because others expect you to.
I still browse the blog and post my training on my own blog if anyone is interested.
Good luck to all games competitors this weekend!! And all those of you who are training for next year!!

Trying to adjust my squat tech. Narrower stance and less angled hips..I get a lot more depth, feels better, but a lot harder. Messed up on A2 and did COVP not CTB. Packed it in after 4 rounds on the metcon...last round of PUs were unbroken, but last 10 reps were an absolute struggle. WOuld have had to rest at least 10 minutes before I could get in another set of 20 UB.

Just watched the pre-game show and Joey's interview. GO DAWGS!!!
